Two months of campaign that went viral, dozens of education and prevention materials, more than 1 million people informed in clear and friendly language about all bankcard fraud, including digital ones. These are the results of the first stage of the “Banking security and anti-fraud” social campaign, launched for the first time in Moldova by Moldindconbank.

Well thought out, adapted to the realities of our country and aimed at all cardholders, the campaign had a strong resonance in society, being supported by the Moldovan Police, Moldtelecom, Information Technology and Cyber Security Service, Association for the Support of Community Initiatives and Sport, Bulgarian Community Development Association, Moldovan Football Federation and private organizations.

Through this unique campaign at national scale, Moldindconbank has shown that it acts differently, breaking the existing patterns of communication in the financial-banking sector. People’s trust in Moldindconbank, but also in the entire banking system is paramount, which is why the initiative to protect our customers from fraud has become social, being focused on all cardholders, regardless of the issuing bank.

Alexander Picker, chairman of the Managing Board of Moldindconbank:

“Moldindconbank reacted to a problem, which has become acute for the society of the Republic of Moldova. Scammers are creative, inventing new fraud schemes, about which people may know nothing. Therefore, in our social campaign, besides informing about existing schemes, we focused on the most effective way to protect money – respecting the privacy of personal and bank data and browse the Internet with caution. The popularity of the campaign gives us confidence that our messages have been heard and understood, and that fraudsters will no longer be able to defraud cardholders.”

The concept was simple and transparent, based on a unique commercial and the idea that the language of financial security is universal and the information is the key to protecting the money in the account. The clear messages and recommendations quickly reached the target audience, and the campaign went viral from the beginning being appreciated by hundreds of thousands of social media users. Over 1 million people saw the commercial, featuring three well-known personalities from our country: Lili Lozan, Andrei Porubin and Mihai Ungureanu.

During the social campaign, citizens were informed about phishing, smishing and vishing, the schemes used online by criminals to hunt for card data, such as “promotions” for shopping at attractive prices, fake investments with little money, etc… The “three NO’s” rule was outlined in all our communication, being the “golden rule” for money protection: DO NOT answer unknown numbers, DO NOT provide card details, and DO NOT access doubtful links.

At the same time, our representatives talked about the methods used by fraudsters to obtain personal information and card data from citizens, such as hacking various websites and selling databases on the DarkNet, offering recommendations for safe Internet browsing.

Moldindconbank continues to stand by its customers, guaranteeing their protection through a series of modern security and alert systems, and a team of specialists who monitors transactions 24/24 and checks suspicious ones. At the same time, several transaction protection techniques are applied, such as online transaction authentication codes, 3D secure payment validation, blocking/unblocking of the card via the app, use of modern software, etc.
