The Maternal Center “In Mother’s Arms” – a social service developed by “Diaconia” Social Mission, was visited by the team of BC “Moldindconbank” S.A., led by Dr. Herbert Stepic, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BC “Moldindconbank” S.A. and founder of Stepic Foundation, and Mr. Alexander Picker, Chairman of the Managing Board.

The visit was an opportunity to provide gifts and financial support for teenage mothers, orphans, and those from other vulnerable categories, and to become familiar with the specific activities of “Diaconia” Social Mission programs, their assistance needs, as well as the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility partnerships.

Dr. Herbert Stepic mentioned that the Maternal Center „In Mother’s Arms” is a special project, as it gives vulnerable mothers and children the support and chance they deserve to build a better future.

“Philanthropy is about giving a hand to those who need it most. I am proud to have played a role in establishing this Center. We will do our best to continue assisting and addressing the needs of those in crisis, helping them shape a brighter future.” Added the Board’s Chairman.

Mr. Alexander Picker also emphasized the importance of financial institutions engaging in social causes: “The involvement of financial institutions in supporting social initiatives is essential for fostering a stronger, more resilient society. Moldindconbank is proud to contribute to such impactful projects that make a real difference in people’s lives. Our team embraces a proactive spirit when it comes to social responsibility, and we are committed to continuing this approach in the years to come.”

The Executive Director of “Diaconia” Social Mission, Mr.Igor Belei, appreciated the generous support of the Moldindconbank team, as well as the willingness to build a partnership with “Diaconia” Social Mission.

“Thanks to this financial support we will continue to provide comprehensive responses and care for the children who come to this service. The Stepic Foundation is a key donor and founder of the Maternal Center, which, in 2011, together with Caritas Vienna, contributed to the creation of this extremely important and necessary social service for mother-child pairs in crisis in Moldova. This is the first time Dr. Stepic is visiting the place that, for 13 years, has become a home for 200 children and their mothers.” Said Igor Belei.

The Maternal Center “In Mother’s Arms” is part of the program with the same name and was established by “Diaconia” Social Mission in 2011 with the goal of preventing child abandonment and ensuring every child’s right to grow up in a family. The service provides comprehensive assistance, including shelter, for mother-child couples in crisis, especially teenage and orphaned mothers who have not had a family role model. Here, they are helped to stay with their children and reintegrate into society. Annually, the Center assists around 20 mother-child couples, and since its establishment, it has helped 200 cases.
